"I bought these pants because I had bought three pair when I was working as a production welder and absolutely loved the ones I had before. When these showed up I have to say quite disappointed they are very thin compared to my old pairs and nowhere near the ruggedness of the old ones I will not be able to work in these without ruining them. Bring back the heavy duty quality of these pants..."

This pant was designed to be lighter weight using 7.5oz. cotton canvas. We would recommend trying style B01 if you are looking for a more durable pant. This particular pant is made of 12oz. cotton duck material.

"I have wore the 12 oz. double front for years and still do in cooler weather. These 7.5 oz. are ideal for working in the summer heat of the Southern Plains. Carhartt's double fronts, 2" belt-loops, broad choice of sizes and canvas weights make it the number one company for me, and frankly, the double fronts in black are classy and usually my choice for formal occasions."

"My other work pants are the duck double-front dungarees, of course! But, these lighter-weight, yet still very durable, pants are perfect for working outside in hot weather. I am a wildlife biologist and work outside about 6 months out of the year conducting wildlife surveys. I would be too hot and sweaty in duck, yet these pants protect my legs from brush and other outdoor hazards. They are so comfortable that I even started wearing them on recreational backpacking trips..."

"I am very unhappy with the change to 7.5 oz. The 12 oz was much more durable. I guess I will be looking for a new type of pants. CHANGE IT BACK CARHARTT!!! And in all of the same colors that you had."

Another Great Product Bites The Dust

"I'll agree with some of the other long time patrons of carharrt work wear, the quality has now slipped significantly. While the style and fit remain the carharrt signature, the new lighter weight double front work pant (the backbone of carharrt in my humble opinion) is inferior to the old style heavier weight pant. I'm a steel fabricator and also use my pants for rock climbing. I have always loved my carharrt double front work pants, for their fit, style and DURABILITY!! The latter of which has now degraded. Bad move carharrt. Rest assured if I find another company that offers your old style pant in the old weight, I'll be switching. All of those raving about the new pants obviously have not worn the old ones. The old weight was a true tradesman's work pant."

"I agree with a previous reviewer, the new pants don't have the same feel I first fell in love with. My old canvas pants feel like they weigh twice as much as the new ones and while the new ones may be made with the same quality, the weight and feel of the old canvas pants was what made Carhartts so great and distinctive. I currently rotate about 5 different pairs of canvas pants-1 pair original canvas carpenter, 1 pair original double front and 3 pair of the new canvas pant, the difference between the old and the new is significant. While I will certainly keep wearing my new ones, I can assure you any old style I can find I will snatch up without hesitation."

"I am a locksmith and bought these with the intent of using the double front for knee pad inserts. The pants work great with the inserts, they look great on and wash well. However, I have had these pants for less than 6 months and the "double front" has already torn. They looked great in the beginning, but now they've been reduced to "working on the car" pants."

"where is the Carhartt quality? Having worn Carhartts for the last 35 years as a railroader, I am disgusted with the Quailty of the new Carhartt gear. At one time it took several washings to break-in a pair of pants! Now thier built to cater to the sissy's who wear them as a fashion statement. CArhartt, go back to your roots and make workwear for workers! JMHO"

"These pants are great. Anyone who slips on a pair will feel protected immediately. I have pairs that are 4 years old and pairs that are brand new. I swear by these pants, they are tough as nails. I climb tree's to cut all day, the chap option is great for that. And the pants can take a beating, The double knee is worth the extra dollars. Trust me, buy these. They will be your companion for years to come"

"These are BY FAR the best pants I've ever used. They are very comfortable, last for years, and are a visual statement as to what kind of worker you are! I've got a couple pairs that have lasted since I was in high school (4 years ago). I've found that the spots just above the top seam of the second layer tends to wear out before anything else, but that could be largely in part to me having keys in my pocket a lot. Also, just another example of the toughness of these pants, I ended up bouncing a running chainsaw off my leg when cutting up some timber... luckily I had these on! They saved me a trip to the hospital! Thanks for making a GREAT product!"

"The carhart double front pants are the best. My husband is so hard on clothing and these pants actually last with him. Not only are they durable but they actually saved his leg one day while using the chainsaw. The chainsaw only cut through the top layer of fabric leaving the bottom layer safe. Thanks Carhart. We will continue to purchase their products. I highly recommend Carhart to those that are looking for a very durable line of clothing."

"Working as a carpenter for over 20 years I have worn a number of different brands of jeans. I never tried Carhartt's brand of jeans till about 5 years ago. I have always had my insulated bibs, but never tried the jeans. I would go through other brands pretty quickly on a jobsite. Another brand I usually bought would only last about a month and the knees would go or I would get em caught on a guset and bye bye. These double front jeans by Carhartt last me 4 times as long, at the least. I used to think the price was to high, but I actually save money because of the longevity. I will only buy these jeans for work now."

"I wear these pants everyday when I'm towing cars for the military police and have had no problems with them ripping or snagging like other pairs of jeans I have worn. "I'm a geologist that does field work in the desert southwest. I have to bust through all kinds of thorny brush and cactus, then grapple with ledges and boulders of rough limestone and sandstone. After 10 years of heavy abuse, I FINALLY wore out my two pairs of double-front pants and look forward to my next pairs. But beyond their toughness, these pants are loose enough to allow good ventilation in the desert heat, so I never felt like I was wearing armor (a major draw-back to some others pants I've tried). I just can't praise these pants enough."

"hands down best jeans on the market ...i will only wear carhartt jeans.. carhartt jeans jeans are the longest wearing of all the work jeans i have ever tested.. i work construction,gardening,landscaping and i have two young boys so i have all authority to say that these jeans do hold up to the demands of a very full life....long lasting and comfortable are what i look for and carhartt has both of these very essential factors in a huge selection of styles and colors to choose from. so go out and get yourself some and see for your self if these jeans do not perform the way a true work jean should.. really every thing from jeans to shorts to shirts to jackets carhartt is the way to go.. even my children are going to grow up wearing carhartt brand jeans... my only question is when will there be carhartt shoes???"

"These pants fit great and seem to last longer than other brands. The right hand side pocket works great as a cell phone pocket. These are the only pants I wear to work as the hold up to my work requiments. I'm always having to crawl, climb or twist my way into tight spaces, and these pants hold up. Would recomend to anyone that "works" for a living."
